William Penn Foundation & Green Family Foundation Grants to Support Clean Energy Project Development & Green Lending Practices

The Philadelphia Green Capital Corp. (PGCC) is excited to announce its involvement in transformative clean energy initiatives supported by new funding that will enhance financing opportunities and strengthen partnerships across the greater Philadelphia region. These grants—$100,000 from the Green Family Foundation and $359,000 from the William Penn Foundation—will enable PGCC to collaborate with the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT) to develop resources and training programs for community lenders. These efforts aim to improve access to federal Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund dollars, ultimately increasing the flow of capital into local energy projects and bolstering regional economic and environmental resilience.

In parallel, the Philadelphia Energy Authority (PEA) is launching the Solarize Greater Philadelphia – Commercial initiative with $460,000 from the William Penn Foundation and $100,000 from the Green Family Foundation. This initiative, executed in partnership with the PA Solar Center, will expand solar energy access for commercial properties across the region. Together, these organizations are driving clean energy adoption while reducing carbon emissions, reinforcing the region’s transition to a more sustainable and equitable future.

These grants from the Green Family Foundation and the William Penn Foundation underscore the importance of strategic philanthropy in advancing clean energy solutions. By fostering partnerships with organizations like IMT, PEA, and the PA Solar Center, PGCC is helping to build an ecosystem where communities, businesses, and lenders can thrive. Through increased access to funding, innovative programs, and collaborative efforts, we are laying the foundation for cleaner, healthier, and more equitable communities for generations to come.
