WHAT IS A GREEN BANK?

OVERVIEW
Green banks leverage private and public resources, innovative partnerships, and local knowledge to serve the unique clean energy needs of their communities. By offering specialty financing tools, green banks catalyze climate resilience, energy efficiency, and renewable energy projects. Ultimately, green banks aim to grow the clean energy economy by “crowding in” private capital providers to invest in clean energy projects at scale.

GREEN BANKS
ACROSS THE COUNTRY
There are over 20 Green Banks serving state and local climate goals across the United States. Together, these organizations have mobilized $1.9B of their capital to generate a total of $7.0 billion in clean energy investment since 2011. That results in an overall mobilization ratio of 3.7x. PGCC will build on the best practices of other green banks and use its capital to mobilize multiples of capital from other sources (public, private, and philanthropic).

PGCC is a member of the American Green Bank Consortium.
